Caused by repetitive hand movement, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome manifests as pain or numbness around the wrist (sometimes including the ring finger and pinky finger). Treatment usually involves ergonomic changes, a change in behavior, or sometimes surgery. Dr. Polsen treats people with carpal tunnel syndrome from Houston and the surrounding area.
Even a simple cut can do major damage; some patients have unknowingly cut a tendon or nerve. This can impede movement and grow worse over time if the injury is not treated. Dr. Polsen is highly experienced at treating these injuries with surgery.
De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis is almost a mirror of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Patients often feel pain on the thumb-side of the wrist, especially when making a fist or grasping an object. There are some therapeutic treatments, such as immobilizing the wrists. In the most severe cases, surgery may be needed.
A fracture in the hand or fingers can have wide ranging consequences, especially if not treated immediately. Fractures can limit movement, cause extreme pain, and create further problems for patients. Treatment is often surgical, depending on the extent of the damage.
Dupuytren’s Contracture occurs when knots form on the tendons in the hand, eventually causing a distortion that results in the fingers being “pulled back” towards the hand. This usually occurs in the ring or pinky fingers (sometimes both). Dupuytren’s can sometimes be treated with a process called “Needling,” but may also require surgery to effectively repair.

Dr Polsen and his staff did such an excellent job on my carpal tunnel and cubital release surgery that I am considering having the other one done. The results were better than I expected. I wish that I hadn't waited so long to have the surgery. Highly Recommend!
